BIR launches successful tax info drive despite COVID-19

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) said it has carried out a successful tax information and dissemination campaign since the start of the year despite the coronavirus (Covid-19) disease.

BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay said that due to the pandemic, the traditional face-to-face briefings and seminars were replaced with the use of various social media outlets like Facebook.

As a result, he said more taxpayers have been informed about the new tax laws, regulations and instructions under its Taxpayer Awareness Program (TAP).

The TAP is carried out by the bureau's 124 revenue district officers (RDOs) nationwide.

It said 114 of the RDOs were recognized for being more creative in virtual posting of tax laws, guidelines and instructional materials.

Twenty 20 of them were acknowledged as top performers based on the quality and type of Information activities they used to reach their taxpayers.

The first five were Antonio J. Mangubat, Jr. of East Bulacan, Jefferson B. Tabboga of Malabon-Navotas, Timm B. Renomeron of Caloocan City, Stimson P. Cureg of Valenzuela City, and Cherry E. Jaldon of West Davao City.
