'Oh My Job!' puts a spotlight on PH seafarers, other sea-based workers

In this week's episode of “Oh My Job," the show will talk about seafarers and other sea-based workers in the light of the upcoming International Maritime Labor Convention(MLC).

According to the Department of Labor and Employment of the Philippines (DOLE), around 229,000 Filipino seamen were on board merchant shipping vessels around the world at any given time.

The figure showed that Filipino seamen comprised more than 25 percent of 1.5 million mariners worldwide, the single biggest nationality block.

Lawyer Bernard P. Olalia, Administrator of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), will give an update on the status of their work in this pandemic and other topics surrounding their rights and privileges.

In the segment “Sagot Ka ni Bebot”, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III himself will answer callers’ questions on topics related to employers and employees.

Hosts Arnell Ignacio, Tuesday Niu and Bea Binene will also share interesting features.

In Arnell’s segment “ Tip Of Da Week," he will once again chime in on the much-debated topic of employees being asked to physically report for work despite pandemic risks.

Bea will also report positive news in “Oh May Good News” segment.
