The San Juan City local government, together with the Department of Information and Communications (DICT), launched on Thursday a vaccination program for the Information Technology – Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector in its bid to protect more people against COVID-19 and its more transmissible Delta variant.
The program was held at the Theatre Mall in Greenhills Shopping Center and was attended by San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, DICT Secretary Gringo Honasan and Undersecretary Emmanuel Rey Caintic, as well as other representatives of the IT-BPM sector.
The vaccination is another partnership between the local government and DICT after the successful implementation of the "Free WIFI For All" program wherein DICT chose San Juan as its pilot area in 2019.
“It has always been an honor and privilege to work with Secretary Gringo Honasan and the DICT, which has been pivotal in San Juan City’s digital transformation. This corroborates our vision of a “Makabagong San Juan” for our people,” San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said.
He added that both the local government unit (LGU) and DICT recognize the importance of the IT-BPM Industry during the pandemic in bringing in important revenue to support the programs and projects of the government in the fight against COVID-19.
“We recognize the members of the IT-BPM Industry as silent workers with equally important tasks during this pandemic especially now that everything is being done virtually and online. Being in this industry is likewise risky as they have to work on shifts or even double time just to make it easier for us to adopt to the new normal,” the mayor said.
