The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) on Thursday gave due recognition to Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso for his exceptional city governance and excellent response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
In his Facebook post, Domagoso was visited by PMPC representatives and gave him an award recognizing him as an Inspirational and Outstanding Leader.
"Thank you Philippine Movie Press Club for awarding me as an Inspirational and Outstanding Leader! I really appreciate it and I am very honored for this award," Domagoso said in his post.
"Umasa kayo na patuloy naming pagbubutihin at pagsisikapan na maging mainam, masinop, at episyenteng mga lingkod bayan (Rest assured that we will continue to improve and strive more to be good, effective and efficient public servants)," he added.
The mayor also gave recognition to the members of the showbiz industry who were heavily hit by the pandemic. He promised to do everything to help make the Philippine showbiz industry recognized overseas.
"Sa lahat ng kasamahan ko sa showbiz industry, wag kayong mawawalan ng pag-asa. We will invest into it someday para naman makilala ‘yung Philippine showbiz sa mundo (To all my colleagues in the showbiz industry, please don't lose hope. We will invest into it someday so that the Philippine showbiz will be recognized around the world)," Domagoso said.
Before entering politics, the 46-year-old mayor started as a matinee idol in 1993 using Isko Moreno as his screen name. He was part of "That's Entertainment", a daily variety show featuring German Moreno's group of aspiring teenage actors.
His major break came in 1993 when he was cast in a cameo role in the romantic movie "May Minamahal". He became a leading man to actress Claudine Barretto in the movie "Muntik na Kitang Minahal" a year later.
