Lacuña said Manila Rep. Yul Servo Nieto will be her running mate.

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso formally announced that he would run for president in the 2022 national elections and endorsed the care of the capital city to his Vice Mayor.

“Buong loob at walang halong pagdududa ko kayong ipagkakatiwala kay Honey Lacuna. Alam kong kayang kaya niya ipagpatuloy ang mga bagay na nasimulan na natin sa lungsod ng Maynila at mamamayan nito (I will wholeheartedly and without any doubt entrust all of you to Honey Lacuna. I know she can continue the things we have started in the city of Manila and its people)," he said during his speech.

Before she entered politics, Lacuña worked as a physician in the city health office. She then served as a city councilor from 2004 to 2013.

Lacuña later decided to run for vice mayor of Manila in 2016.

In 2019, she teamed up with Moreno to secure re-election as vice mayor.

Should Lacuña win, she will be the first female mayor of Manila.
