Students who wish to apply for the Senior High School Voucher Program (SHS VP) of the Department of Education (DepEd) need to create accounts on the application portal by Tuesday, Sept. 21.
DepEd has officially opened the online application for the SHS VP program on Sept. 19. However, voucher applicants must create accounts on the Online Voucher Application Portal (OVAP) before they can proceed with their applications.
In collaboration with the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), DepEd will be accepting online applications until Sept. 23, 2021 through the OVAP.
Undersecretary for Finance Annalyn Sevilla earlier explained that through the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), DepEd was able to “secure additional funds” for the continuity of the implementation of SHS VP as well as its other programs of Government Assistance and Subsidies.

DepEd said that the results of the SHS VP application will be posted on Oct. 11, 2021. “Qualified voucher applicants may start voucher redemption on the same day,” it added.
Who are the eligible applicants?
DepEd said that interested applicants must first determine their eligibility for the SHS VP program before submitting their online applications.
Learners or Voucher Applicants (VA) that need to apply are learners under “Category D” or the Grade 10 completers in private schools in School Year (SY) 2020-2021 who are not Education Service Contracting (ESC) grantees.
Those under “Category E” or the Grade 10 completers who completed Grade 10 prior to SY 2020-2021 but not earlier than 2016 and had not previously enrolled for Grade 11 need to apply for the SHS VP.
Learners who had passed the Alternative Learning System - Accreditation and Equivalency (ALS - A&E) Test for Grade 10 not earlier than 2016 and had not previously enrolled in Grade 11 or ALS learners who passed the Presentation Portfolio Assessment or those belonging to “Category F” as well as those under “Category G” or the learners who passed the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) for Grade 10 not earlier than 2016 and had not previously enrolled for Grade 11 or will take the PEPT in SY 2021-2022 also need to apply if they want to avail of the SHS VP.
Meanwhile, DepEd said that those identified as Automatically Qualified (AQ) “don’t need to apply” for the SHS VP.
The AQs are those included under “Category A” or the leaners who completed Grade 10 in School Year (SY) 2020-2021 in DepEd public schools.
Those under “Category B” or the learners who completed Grade 10 in SY 2020-2021 in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) as well as those under “Category C” or the learners who completed Grade 10 in SY 2020-2021 in private schools who are Education Service Contracting (ESC) grantees are considered automatic beneficiaries, too.
DepEd reminded that those belonging Categories A, B and C no longer need to apply for the SHS VP since they are among the automatic beneficiaries of the voucher program.
