In observance of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month this September, the Saint Camillus Center for Humanization in Health will conduct a free internet forum on the prevention of suicide on Sept. 24 from 7 to 8 p.m. via zoom.
The theme for the forum is “Mahirap Ngunit Posibleng Malampasan: Understanding and Preventing Suicide.” The Camillians in partnership with the Saint Camillus Center for Humanization in Health seek to be of help in the prevention of suicide which has risen in incidence amid the pandemic.
“Through the webinar, the Camillians hope to help in raising community awareness and breaking down the stigma and taboo to make progress in preventing suicide,” said the Saint Camillus Center for Humanization in Health.
Dr. Joan Mae Perez-Rifareal, DPBP, FPPA, an adult and general psychiatrist will serve as the forum speaker and resource person.

Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed a 57 percent increase in the number of deaths due to suicide in 2020 compared to 2019 figures or before the onset of the pandemic.
