Sigua was arrested by joint operatives of the Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) 3, RIU13, TSD, and ISOD with Military Intelligence Group 15, Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP), RID, PRO13, RID, Police Regional Office 3, Bulacan police intelligence unit, San Jose Del Monte City police, Marilao police, and San Rafael police, and RHPU4A-SOT by virtue of an Warrant of Arrest for the crime of murder under Criminal Case Number 5965 issued by Judge Lou A Nueva, Acting Executive Judge of RTC Branch 7, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur dated July 10, 2019 with no bail recommended.

Bayong Sag-ob and Pfc Jerald Dela Cruz Giron on April 22, 2018, in Sitio Virtudazo, Barangay San Juan, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.
Sigua worked as a volunteer teacher at the Lumad Bakwit School located inside the University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB). She even went to New Zealand in 2018 and spoke at the Auckland Peace Place discrediting the Philippine government for its alleged transgressions against the cultural minorities.
“The successful joint enhanced police and military operation manifests the strong commitment of the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines here in Central Luzon. We continue to work hand-in-hand to end the local communist armed conflict not just in Region 3 but the whole country as well,” De Leon said.
