Those who are planning to register for the May 2022 polls should expect long lines when they go to the local poll offices in the last few days of the voter registration, an official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.
"The lines will really be long...Those queuing should expect that already," Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said in a television interview Monday, Sept. 20.
"What do they expect? It's the last few days," he added.
Jimenez urged applicants to lineup early.
"You need to register if you want to vote," he said.
"Let us line up early and hope that they will make the cut off of the Comelec office," added Jimenez.
The poll official said so far there are almost 62 million registered voters for 2022.
The voter registration period will end on Sept. 30.
