During an inspection on the road project Friday, Sept. 17, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said that the 565-meter viaduct structure crossing Kalayaan Avenue in Makati City towards BGC’s 8th Avenue in Taguig City will be completed this September.

It is the last segment to complete the entire 1.48-kilometer BGC-Ortigas Center Road Link.

“I am grateful for the dedication of our engineers and workers on the ground undertaking round-the-clock construction, rain or shine, to ensure we meet our target opening of the final viaduct segment of BGC-Ortigas Center Road Link Project," Villar said.

Undersecretary Emil Sadain also said that "with the current pace of works coupled with favorable weather conditions, we are right-on-track to complete the project which will significantly benefit motorists between the commercial business districts of BGC and Ortigas Center."

The first phase of BGC-Ortigas Center Road Link Project dubbed Kalayaan Bridge was opened on June 12 and now connects Barangay Sta. Monica in Pasig City and Kalayaan Avenue in Makati City.

Once completed, the entire road project will reduce travel time between BGC and Ortigas to only 12 minutes and will be able to help decongest as much as 20 percent traffic volume from the overly-congested Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and C5 Road.
