A Filipino priest will be going to the Vatican after he was tasked to work in the Papal Sacristy.

The Order of Saint Augustine (OSA), in a statement, said that Rev. Fr. Jubanie Baller will be reporting for his new assignment beginning Sept. 19.

"Fr. Baller will join the Augustinian community at the Papal Sacristy together with three other Augustinian friars from Italy, India, and Congo," said the OSA.

Those working at the Papal Sacristy will "prepare the liturgical vestments and vessels of the masses of the Pope at the Vatican and the Diocese of Rome," the OSA said.

"In the past, a Filipino Augustinian, Rev. Fr. Nestor Bandalan Jr., OSA, was already assigned in the Papal Sacristy. Currently, he is now reporting as one of the friars of the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu community," the OSA said.

Baller was born in Talisay City, Cebu. He joined the Augustinians in 2008 and was ordained priest on June 12, 2019.

Prior to his appointment in the Vatican, Baller has been serving as Parochial Vicar of the St. Augustine of Hippo Parish, Gubat, Sorsogon for two years.
