No Lucy in Senate as Mr. and Mrs. Gomez to switch places in Ormoc
TACLOBAN CITY - Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez and Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez have confirmed that they will be switching places in the coming 2022 elections.
In a post by the City Government of Ormoc Thursday, September 16, the couple has posted their lineup for the Ormoc Development Team (ODT).This discounts the possibility that Lucy, who is now on her last term as representative of the 4th district of Leyte will run for senator.
Lucy has been included in the initial lineup of Senators Panfilo Lacson and Senator Tito Sotto, and the PDP-Laban slate endorsing President Rodrigo Duterte for vice-president.
Leo Carmelo Locsin, Sr., the father of Vice-Mayor Toto Locsin will run for vice-mayor.Councilor Vince Rama will run for board member for the fourth district of Leyte replacing his wife who will be running for councilor.
Their candidate for councilors include incumbents Lalaine Marcos, Nolito Quilang, Perok Rodriguez, Jasper Lucero, Goito Yrastorza, and Roiland Villasencio.
The new candidates for councilor include BM Carmen Jean Torres-Rama, Burt Pades, former PBA player Rey Evangelista, and city health officer Dr. Edmund Kierulf.Gomez,
Now on his second term as mayor,Gomez earlier refused to run for a national position, citing that their focus is in Ormoc and the 4th district.
He added that although a higher office is appealing, he would also not force his wife to run for senate but will respect her decision where she could serve the people more.
"What she wants is where she could serve best. We're still thinking about it and I am just here to support whatever her decision is," Gomez said.
