PCG, Navy rescue 14 individuals from troubled motor launch in Tawi-Tawi


Personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine Navy (PN) have rescued at least 14 individuals from a distressed motor launch off Sibutu Passage in Tawi-Tawi on Friday, Sept. 10.

In an incident report from the PCG on Tuesday, Sept. 14, the motor launch Faramae encountered engine trouble due to a mechanical failure while transiting from Taganak Island to Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

Authorities have immediately deployed a rescue team to locate the six passengers and eight crew members on board the distressed vessel.

The PCG said the rescued individuals were turned over to their families.

Meanwhile, the PCG Substation Bongao assisted the eight crew members in towing the distressed motor launch to Lamion Wharf, Tawi-Tawi for needed repairs.
