Success of granular lockdowns will depend on implementation -- physician
An official from the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) said Tuesday, Sept. 14, the success of granular lockdowns which will be piloted on Sept. 16 in Metro Manila will depend on how well local government units can implement them.

In an interview with DZBB, PCP President Dr. Maricar Limpin said LGUs will play a vital role in the shift to granular lockdowns.
"I think importante yung granular lockdowns... Maaari naman po sigurong makatulong. In fact isa sa mga tinitingnan namin even before yung parang clustering ng mga lockdown para hindi masyadong malaganap yung pagpapa-implement ng lockdown. But yung detalye kung paano nila ipapa-implement (I think granular lockdowns are important. Maybe it can help. In fact, one of the things we look at even before is the clustering of lockdowns so that the implementation of lockdowns is not too widespread. But we need details on how they will be implemented)," Limpin noted.
"Kailangan siguro ng mga LGU na mag-employ ng tao para mai-implement yung dapat na ma-implement during granular lockdowns (Maybe LGUs need to employ people to make sure that guidelines are strictly implemented during granular lockdowns)," she added.
Limpin also hopes accommodations and transportations would be provided to healthcare workers during the implementation of granular lockdowns.
"These are the things that our government needs to consider."
The pilot run of a new COVID-19 alert system with granular lockdowns will be implemented in Metro Manila starting on Thursday, Sept. 16.
