Son of Lucban, Quezon mayor killed in road accident

LUCBAN, Quezon – The 17-year-old son of the mayor of this town died and his colleague in critical condition after both were rammed by a speeding delivery van Monday night, September 13, in this town.

The report identified the fatality as Guitahm Oli Salvacion Dator while his companion, 20-year-old local government employee Sydney Mykel Ramos Saliendra is still fighting for his life in the hospital as of this writing.

Dator is the son of Lucban, Quezon Mayor Celso Olivier Dator.

According to the police report, the victims were riding their respective motorcycles and were cruising the intersection of town proper around 9:50 p.m. when they were hit by an Elf truck driven by Brian Abana, 32 and a resident of Candelaria, Quezon.

Based on CCTV footage, the two were in the middle of the intersection on Rizal Avenue and Racelis Avenue and were about to cross when they were slammed by the fast approaching truck.

Both sustained serious head and body injuries and were rushed to the MMG Hospital Lucban where the young Dator died while receiving treatment for about three hours.

Saliendra, on the other hand, remains critical and unconscious due to a severe head injury.

The responding police arrested Abana who will be facing criminal charges at the prosecutor’s office.

Abana is currently detained at the Lucban PNP custodial facility.
