Yang skips Blue Ribbon committee hearing, claims he has high blood pressure

Michael Yang, former economic adviser of President Duterte, on Monday, Sept. 13 failed to appear before the sixth public hearing by the Senate Blue Ribbon committee on the controversial purchases of billions of pesos worth of COVID19-related medical supplies today.

Raymond Fortun, Yang’s lawyer, told Senator Richard J. Gordon, committee chairman, that his client’s blood pressure has ‘’shot up’’ and that his physician had advised him to stay at home.

Fortun said Yang was supposed to be at Insular Village at 9:30 a.m. in Davao City today.

The hybrid public hearing of the Gordon committee was at 10.a.m. today. Last week, Yang testified through video conferencing while he was in a hotel in Davao.

Fortun said he would submit to the committee a medical certificate on Yang’s medical condition.

‘’Why is it that when somebody is under investigation, they always appear sick or in wheelchair?’’ Gordon asked.
