PH records over 20K new COVID-19 cases

Another 20,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, Sept. 13.

The DOH said there were 20,745 new cases detected nationwide. The new infections pushed the country’s COVID-19 tally since the start of the pandemic to 2,248,071.

Of the total number of cases, eight percent or 180,293 patients are still being treated. The DOH noted that 86 percent of the active cases have mild symptoms, 9.4 percent are asymptomatic, 0.6 percent are in critical condition, 1.4 percent are severe, and 2.62 percent have moderate symptoms.

The DOH said that 90.4 percent of the country’s total case count have recovered while 1.57 percent died.

The death toll jumped to 35,307 with 163 more fatalities, including 60 cases that were earlier tagged as recoveries.

Meanwhile, 22,290 were added to the recovery tally. The total number of COVID-19 survivors in the country stood at 2,032,471.

"The DOH strongly reminds everyone to continue its enhanced PDITR (prevent, detect, isolate, treat, reintegrate) plus vaccination strategies, ramped up active case finding, contact tracing and testing," the DOH said.

Also, the DOH reminded the public of the "strict adherence to the minimum public health standards across all settings to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 and its variants."
