ILOILO CITY – As face-to-face classes are still prohibited when the 2021-2022 school year opens on Monday, a teacher in Iloilo province gets creative by placing life-sized ID photos on classroom chairs.
“I wanted to have the feeling that there will be face-to-face classes,” said Jessie S. Comprendio of Calinog National Comprehensive High School in Calinog town.
“Otherwise, it’s hard when you cannot recognize who your students are,” Comprendio said in an interview with Manila Bulletin.

For the 42-year-old teacher, the simple act of printing out the students’ photos is a means of lightening up the mood as times are still tough with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Comprendio took the initiative to print out the ID photos of incoming Grade 9 students.
Aside from lightening up the mood, Comprendio wanted to make it easier for the students’ parents to be able to get their modules on September 13.
School principal Ma. Emily L. Cumpang has encouraged other teachers to replicate Comprendio’s initiative.
Meanwhile, Comprendio is also planning with a fellow teacher to establish a home-based program where they can welcome students at their home on a weekend if the students encounter problems with their modules.
