K-pop girl group BLACKPINK member Lisa’s debut solo album “Lalisa” achieved success upon its release.
According to YG Entertainment, “Lalisa,” the carrier track in the album, garnered the No. 1 spot on iTunes’ Top Songs chart in 60 countries and regions as of 8 a.m. on Sept. 11.
These include Sweden, Philippines, Brazil, Chile, Indonesia, Malaysia, Norway, Qatar, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Peru, according to website Kworb.
The “Lalisa” album, meanwhile, sold 330,129 copies on the first day of release on Sept. 10, according to Korea’s Hanteo Chart.
The album’s regular version sold 309,827 copies while the KiT version sold 20,302 for a total of 330,129. The two versions grabbed the first and second places, respectively, on Hanteo Chart’s daily physical album chart for Sept. 10.
Before its release, “Lalisa” recorded 800,000 copies in pre-orders as of Sept. 10, YG Entertainment revealed, further boosting Lisa’s record as the female K-pop solo artist with the highest pre-orders in history. The album had 700,000 copies in pre-orders in four days after the ordering was launched.
On the other hand, the music video for “Lalisa” is poised to enter YouTube’s Top 10 All-Time Top 24 Hour Music Debuts. As of writing, the music video has garnered 66 million views. If this is confirmed, Lisa will become the first K-pop solo artist to have a music video with the most views in the first 24 hours of release.
“This is my first solo album, and I got to put my name ‘Lalisa’ as the title so it means a lot to me. I’m so thankful to BLINKs who waited for me, and I’ve really worked hard on this,” said Lisa.
As for naming the album and carrier track “Lalisa,” Lisa said, “I wanted to portray the best side of me in the album. I just wanted to show who I am as a person, so I decided on this name,” according to YG Entertainment.
In addition, BLACKPINK achieved another success as they became the No. 1 artist in the world with the most number of YouTube subscribers.
YouTube announced that as of Sept. 10, BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel garnered 65.5 million subscribers, dislodging Justin Bieber from the top spot. He now has 65.1 million subscribers to his YouTube channel.
“We can’t believe it. This is a miraculous moment BLINKs gifted us. We want to share this honor with BLINKs from all around the world who’ve always loved and supported us,” said BLACKPINK.
