A tribute to Filipino pop culture at the Manila Bulletin Sketchfest 2021
For its 11th year, the Manila Bulletin’s Sketchfest art advocacy project continues to promote the values of creativity and nationalism through art.

With this year’s theme “Pinoy Pop,” the Manila Bulletin seeks to pay tribute to Filipino popular culture, and its influence to the nation’s creative and arts scene.
According to Sonny Coloma, Publisher of the Manila Bulletin “This year's theme, Pinoy Pop, recognizes the vitality and uniqueness of Filipino pop-culture and how it has evolved and adapted through contemporary times.
“Let your sketches and artistic work reflect the boundless ideas and colors that is Pinoy Pop!,” Coloma adds.
From about 200 participants when it started in 2010, the annual poster-making competition has steadily grown through the years, and has already been participated by thousands of art enthusiasts of all ages from all over the Philippines.
This year, the submission of Exhibition Category entries will be up to October 29, 2021, while the Digital sketching and the popular On-the-Spot drawing category will again be held online and is scheduled on November 13, 2021.
The exhibition category is open to 16 years old and above, while the on-the-spot category is divided into three sub-categories namely: Kiddie (children 12 years old and below); Junior (13 to 18 years old); and Senior (19 years and older). The Digital Category is open to all to ages.

Three winners will be proclaimed from each category, and will receive cash and gift certificates, or either of, as prizes.
During the November 13, 2021 event proper, participants are required to momentarily livestream themselves on Facebook while doing their artworks and share their completed works online with the caption “I am part of #MBSketchfest2021” and tag @manilabulletin in their posts. The setting of the posts should also be “to public.” The deadline for submission and uploading of the On-the Spot and Digital category entries and documents is on November 14, 2021 until 11:59 p.m. All late submissions are disqualified.
