Robredo a 'sure winner' if she runs for president, says Trillanes
Vice President Leni Robredo can win in the 2022 elections should she seek the presidency, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said.

In a Twitter post, the staunch critic of President Duterte expressed hope that Robredo would run for president next year.
“In the meantime, let’s hope that VP Leni would run because she would surely win if she does,” Trillanes, chairperson of the Magdalo Party, said.

His tweet was in response to a Twitter user’s post, calling him the best presidential bet for the country.
“Trillanes is the better option than Pacquaio. We should stop thinking about who is winnable. We should always think who is the best. And the best for our country is Trillanes NOT the boksingero (boxer),” said @Oryangoryang.
Trillanes replied: “Thank you for the trust and support, ma’am. Be assured that we are prepared to answer the call of duty in case the situation warrants it.”
The former senator earlier submitted his name for consideration by opposition coalition 1Sambayan as a possible presidential bet in 2022.
Trillanes, however, said he’s willing to give way to Robredo if the vice president decides to seek the country’s highest post.

The latest post of Trillanes seemed to break the impasse between the two opposition figures in the run-up to the May 2022 elections.
The Magdalo official didn’t see eye to eye with Robredo in forging a united opposition for the upcoming polls, as she met with the likes of Senators Panfilo Lacson, Vicente Sotto III, and Richard Gordon.
For Trillanes, Robredo is the only logical choice as opposition standard-bearer.
The vice president has already assured Trillanes that she didn’t sell out in her “exploratory talks” with Lacson and other possible candidates.

“Hindi pa kami nakapag-usap, pero (We haven’t talked yet, but) I think iyong (the) turn of events, ma-a-assure naman siya na hindi tayo sell-out. Iyong turn of events, lalo na iyong kay Senator Lacson (he will be assured that I’m not a sell-out, especially the one with Senator Lacson),” she said in an online interview.
More than 200 groups across sectors from laborers, health care workers, teachers, church workers, youth, lawyers to artists
have already called on Robredo to run for president in 2022, saying she has the qualities and capabilities to lead the country.
