The Department of Health (DOH) clarified that more than 17,000 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were logged on Wednesday, Sept. 8.
In a statement on Thursday, Sept, 9, the DOH said that 5,000 more cases were added on Wednesday’s COVID-19 tally. Originally, the DOH reported 12,751 new infections on Wednesday. The DOH noted that their COVID-19 data collecting system encountered a “technical problem.”
“Due to the technical issues encountered with COVIDKaya yesterday, we report an additional 5,132 cases from the 12,751 cases yesterday, Sept. 8. There were also 41 additional recoveries during the same period,” the DOH said on Thursday, Sept. 9.
“Hence, the total cases from Sept. 8 would be 17,883 with total recoveries of 20,192.”
This means that the country’s running tally of cases on Wednesday stood at 2,139,137 wherein 156,267 were active cases. The total number of recoveries stood at 1,948,239. The death toll remains at 34,672.
The DOH said that they are still fixing the technical problem on their system.
