The Navotas City government has welcomed 28 new NavotaAs Academic scholars for the school year 2021-2022.
"We wish to congratulate our new academic scholars as well as their parents. While the pandemic has brought about overwhelming challenges to our school sector, our scholars persevered and strived to excel in their studies. They truly deserve the educational aid they will be getting from our city government," Mayor Toby Tiangco said.
Fifteen of the scholars are incoming high school freshmen, 11 are incoming college freshmen, and two are teachers for graduate school programs.
The qualified scholars underwent a qualifying exam and interview.
Secondary education scholars will receive P18,000 per academic year for books, transportation and food allowance.
Freshman scholars of Navotas Polytechnic College will get P22,000 per academic year for tuition, book, transportation, and food allowance.
Teacher-scholars will get P75,000 every academic year for their tuition, book, transportation, food allowance, and research grant.
Launched in 2011, the NavotaAs Academic Scholarship has already supported 99 scholars for the past 10 years.
