BACOLOD CITY – Strong river current washed away the kitchen part of a couple’s house situated in a riverbank at Bonifacio Street, Extension, Barangay Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental on Tuesday.
In a video shared by Maria Euane Jesa Singson to Manila Bulletin on Wednesday, a man was seen checking the outer part of their house after a nipa was swept by a strong river current due to Tropical Storm “Jolina.”
Singson said the couple has been living with their two children.
They were safe during the heavy downpour on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, a couple, with three children aged 7, 5, and 5 months old, were able to get out of their house before it was totally washed away by the river flood.
Singson said the family was asleep when heavy rains and flood occurred.
They were not able to save any personal items, and temporarily took shelter at their relative at the said village, she added.
The local government unit had already extended assistance to the affected residents.
