Two Bulacan dams near spilling level; water carrying capacity being closely monitored — Gov. Fernando

Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando, chairman of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center (PDRRMC), said they are closely monitoring the condition and water carrying capacities of three water dams in the province after Ipo Dam reached spilling level, Bustos Dam on the brink of spilling, and also Angat.

As of 8 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, the water level of Angat Dam was 194.7 meters. Its spilling level is 210 meters. Ipo Dam’s water level was 101.21 meters which is above the normal water level of 100.00 meters, while Bustos dam was 17.29 meters and is nearing its spilling level of 17.70 meters.

The operators of Ipo and Bustos Dams have reportedly conducted preemptive releases by opening their one sluice gate.

Fernando instructed PDRRMC officer Liz Mungcal to alert all city and municipal disaster control teams as well as other disaster and emergency teams as Bulacan braces for Tropical Storm Jolina and typhoon "Kiko" which has entered the Philippine area of responsibility.
