Davao City Jail intensifies its search to visitors after P256k worth of shabu sneaking attempt


DAVAO CITY — The Davao City Jail has intensified its implementation of strict protocols within its detention facility after sachets of shabu were found in a food container on the afternoon of September 7 from one of the facility’s visitors.

In a statement released by Bureau of Jail Management and Penology 11 (BJMP 11) Tuesday, the searchers of the Male Dormitory intercepted at least 35 sachets of suspected shabu inside several “chilis” in the container.

This was allegedly brought by a visitor identified as Richard Caybot, 40, a resident of Calinan, Davao City.

The said seized illegal drugs weighed around 16 grams with an estimated value of P256,000.

The jail officers immediately contacted the operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Talomo Police Station and Barangay Official of Ma-a about the incident for proper verification, tagging, and turnover of custody of the suspected contraband.

Caybot was turned over to the Talomo Police Station for proper disposition.
