While Vice President Leni Robredo is giving “serious thought” on her possible 2022 presidential bid, her supporters on Tuesday, Sept. 7, said they would give the needed space for her to decide.
Joseph Quesada, one of the convenors of Team Leni Robredo (TLR), said they trust the Vice President to make the right decision as she discerns whether or not to run for president next year.
“We hear you, VP Leni. We will give you all the space that you need,” he said in a statement sent to media.
Quesada added that while they wait for Robredo to reach a decision, the group will continue supporting her in the pandemic response to help their fellow Filipinos in need.
“This is not only your fight, but our fight as well. We are all fighting for good governance, fighting for jobs and fighting this pandemic,” he noted.

The vice president is being eyed as the possible standard-bearer of the opposition in the upcoming elections.
Robredo herself has said she is open to run for the presidency, but has yet to announce her final decision.
Her supporters from TLR know she will make the right decision when the right time comes for the sake of the nation.
“We trust that the vice president’s decision will be guided by what’s at stake – the urgent need for better governance. We would respect whatever her decision would be,” Quesada said.
On Monday, Sept. 6, Robredo thanked the more than 200 volunteer groups across different sectors and provinces that have been backing her possible candidacy.

The opposition leader said she keeps in mind her supporters who have been clamoring for her to throw her name in the 2022 presidential race.
“I’m very, very grateful for the trust and support. As I’ve been saying, I don’t take this trust lightly and I continue to give serious thought to this,” Robredo said on ANC’s Headstart.
Among the different groups pushing for Robredo’s presidential bid are those composed of laborers, health care workers, teachers, church workers, youth, urban poor, lawyers, and artists.
