'Kiko' joins 'Jolina' inside PH area of responsibility

A severe tropical storm with an international name "Chanthu" has entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) at around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Chanthu was given the local name "Kiko," the 11th cyclone for 2021 and the second for September.

Kiko comes as severe tropical storm "Jolina" (international name "Conson") continues to batter parts of Luzon and Visayas.

The center of severe tropical storm Kiko was last estimated at 1,505 kilometers east of Central Luzon at around 3 p.m.

It has maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph while it was moving west-northwest at 15 kph.
