Globe's GoLearn for a better future

These are some of the common and inquisitive questions that today’s generation of e-learners ask. With COVID-19 still keeping schools shuttered across the country, millions of Filipino students had to stay at home and adapt to digital learning. Understanding the predicament of many, digital learning champion Senator Joel “Tesdaman” Villanueva gamely answered these questions head-on.

In a special video about Globe’s GoLearn program, Sen. Villanueva carefully explains to today’s generation of home-based students how important it is to remain at home while the pandemic is still going on. Watch the full video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWtKJQQqZNo

“Importante na mapangalagaan natin ang kalusugan ng mga kaklase mo, mga estudyante, mga guro, at ating mga pamilya para safe tayo sa risk ng exposure,” he said.

Hangga't hindi tayo nakakasiguro sa kaligtasan ng lahat, mas-mabuting manatili tayong ligtas sa ating mga tahanan,” Villanueva said on the topic of returning to face-to-face mode of learning. “Alam kong nami-miss mo na ang iyong mga classmates, teachers pero nakakausap at nakikita pa rin naman natin sila sa pamamagitan ng online learning.”

Since learning does not stop even when kids are not physically in the school, Sen. Villanueva encourages kids to GoLearn with Globe.

GoLearn is a unified, Globe-wide platform uplifting education towards 21st Century Learning through programs and solutions that enable the new learning ecosystem for students, teachers, parents, and local government units. It is supported by three main pillars: Affordable Connectivity, Accessible Platforms, and a Safer Learning Environment.

As part of the recently launched GoLearn program, Globe provides affordable internet for all through offers that make digital learning accessible.  It also has for-subscription and free platforms to empower educators and learners to continue learning. Part of the platforms that can be accessed for free are:

“The internet is a great equalizer.  To make GoLearn very inclusive, one big part of it is our robust network improvements nationwide to reach all corners of the country and enable people from all walks of life to continue learning.  Inclusivity means looking at the different facets of the learning journey and providing platforms that encompass what a learning experience should be,” said KD Dizon, Globe Head of Small, Medium Business Group.

As the son of two former public school teachers, Senator Villanueva has long been a staunch advocate of quality education and supports interventions to improve digital learning, especially under the current situation.

He cited a study conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on possible learning loss due to school closures and remote learning. The impact on the kids may be long-term, affecting their competitiveness and work performance in the future.

Siguraduhin po natin na may maganda tayong kinabukasan kasama ng GoLearn. Ngayong modern age ng digital technology, huwag po tayo magpahuli, GoLearn for a better future,” he said.

Globe is a strong advocate of quality education, one of the 10 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals that the company has committed to supporting, one of which is UN SDG No. 4 which aims to provide equitable and quality education to all, especially to those most in need. In line with the new normal, Globe pushes for digital learning by providing connectivity to learners and teachers.
