Retired AFP general is new PDEA deputy chief for administration


A retired general of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has been appointed as the new director-general for administration of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

In a statement Friday, September 3, PDEA said that retired Major General Diosdao Carreon formally assumed the post of outgoing officer-in-charge (OIC) Office of the Deputy Director General for Administration (ODDGA) Director III Randy R. Pedroso.

Carreon is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Hinirang” Class of 1987 and had “a long, colorful and distinguished career as a decorated military officer’’ holding major positions in the AFP.

Most noteworthy of these were: Commander, 40th Infantry Battalion; Force Commander, Special Intelligence Force, ISAFP; Commanding Officer of Joint Task Force Gensan; Commander, 601st Infantry Brigade; and Commander, 6th Infantry Division, Philippine Army (PA).’

PDEA Director-General Wilkins Villanueva noted that Carreon “is a welcome addition to the PDEA family."

"He brings with him a wealth of 37 years of military experience in the realms of administration, operations and intelligence," Villanueva said.

The PDEA chief also cited Pedroso for his “valuable insights, helpful guidance and staunch commitment during his term as my second in command.’’
