The LGU (local government unit) distributed the food packs in three barangays, namely, Corazon de Jesus, Pasadena, and Ermitaño.

A total of 45,000 food packs were distributed, with each pack containing rice, canned goods, powdered milk, face shields and face masks, and other food items donated by private individuals, organizations, and corporations, and repacked by city hall volunteers. The contents may vary depending on the supply of the items.

“The city of San Juan is grateful to the organizations, corporations, and individuals who extended a helping hand to our residents in this time of need. It’s still MECQ and many businesses are still not allowed to operate or are not in full operation, so I hope that these food packs will help our kababayans who are in need, tide them over this difficult period,” Zamora said.

To ensure that the minimum health and safety protocols are bring followed, the LGU released a schedule of distribution for each barangay and tickets were given to residents a day before their barangay’s schedule. Residents were also told to put chairs outside their homes where the food packs would be placed.

Zamora assured residents whose communities are under granular lockdown that they will receive food packs during the two-week quarantine.

"Alam ko po na darating din ang panahon na matatapos ang pandemyang ito. At bilang inyo pong Mayor, ang gusto ko po ay masabi ng mga San Juaneño na noong panahon ng pandemya ay walang nagutom, walang napabayaan, at ang lahat ay naalagaan. We are trying our very best na lahat po ay puwede nating magawa upang makatulong sa ating mamamayan (I know that the time will come that this pandemic will end. As your mayor, I want San Juaneños to say that during the pandemic, no one went hungry, no one was left behind, and every one was taken care of. We are trying our best to help everyone)," Zamora said.
