7 barangay captains in Bacolod get pranked of food delivery

BACOLOD CITY – Seven barangay captains here were surprised on Monday night, when food delivery riders arrived at their barangay halls, carrying some buckets of chicken and pizza, which they did not order.

Councilor Lady Gles Gonzales-Pallen, president of Liga ng mga Barangay, who was one of the victims of the prank order, said on Tuesday, that she was informed by a barangay watchman that a food delivery rider on a bicycle went to the Barangay Taculing hall looking for her to deliver a bucket of chicken amounting to P506.

Pallen said that she thought at first that she probably forgot a scheduled food delivery, but upon checking her cellular phone, there’s none.

Out of her sympathy to the rider who waited for about an hour to reach her, as she was already home that night, Pallen decided to pay the rider.

However, series of posts on Facebook from other barangay captains surfaced late Monday night, sharing also the same experience.

Pallen said that prank orders also victimized Ruben James Miranda, Rosinie Distrito, Lito Abaring, Glo Ann Tambasen, Yolanda Noble, and Rodney Carmona of Barangays 35, Singcang-Airport, Bata, Montevista, Pahanocoy, and Sum-ag, respectively.

Pallen said that Carmona and Noble received pizza orders, while the other village chiefs got buckets of chicken.

Pallen said that three of the village chiefs did not pay for the prank orders.

Pallen said that it’s just sad to see riders exert effort to deliver their clients’ orders, but there are those who could make such prank amid this pandemic.

Pallen said the caller was based in Kentucky, and when they tried calling the number, nobody answered it.

Pallen believed that only one person was behind the prank orders, using the names of these barangay captains.

Pallen said they do not know the purpose of this prank, but they have already reported it to the police for proper investigation.

Pallen said she will meet with other village chiefs to contemplate their action on the said matter.

Pallen, meanwhile, refused to comment if it had something to do with politics.
