5 dead in Masbate stabbing attack

CAMP OLA, Albay – Five individuals were killed in a stabbing attack in Baleno town Masbate province on Saturday night.

Police Major Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5) spokesperson identified the victims as Jennifer Adique, 40; Adela Cortes, 67; Jesus Adigue, 70; Joyce, 17 and Kristille, 14, all residents Brgy. Tinapian, Baleno town.

Calubaquib said that Angel, 13 survived the attack and is now being treated at an undisclosed hospital.

The suspect was arrested and identified as a 16-year-old teener named “Mark”, also a resident of the same town.

Initial investigation disclosed that while the victims are on deep sleep around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday evening, the suspect entered the house and took the cellphone of Joyce which awakened Kristelle. This prompted the suspect to stab the victims.

Investigation still ongoing as of press time.
