“Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” the new Korean romantic comedy series starring actress Shin Min-a and actor Kim Seon-ho, premiered at No. 1 in South Korea.

According to Nielsen Korea, the pilot episode of the TV series on Aug. 28 got nationwide and metropolitan area ratings of 6.821 percent to place first among all cable TV shows.

During an online press conference for the TV series last Aug. 24, Shin Min-a and Kim Seon-ho talked about working together.

"We have such great acting chemistry. Kim Seon-ho has such a great personality and is a type of a person who makes others comfortable. I wanted to have flexibility in acting with this series and Kim was so considerate. I think we clicked very well," said Shin Min-a, according to the Korea Times.

Kim Seon-ho said Shin Min-a “is very open to exchanging opinions and creating the scenes. She would always come up with funny ideas and would show them to us, which were really amusing."

This is Kim Seon-ho’s follow-up project after the 2020 drama “Start-Up” wherein he played the role of Han Ji-pyeong for which he gained fame and popularity.

In "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha," Shin Min-a plays the role of Yoon Hye-jin, a dentist who moves to the town of Gongjin and where he meets Hong Du-sik (Kim Seon-ho).

"This is a story of a city woman Hye-jin settling into a town by a seaside, as she meets Du-sik. Because the two come from very different backgrounds, they bicker all the time, which brings them closer to each other. And as they do, she learns to mingle with the town's people and Du-sik also grows from being by her side," said director Yoo Je-won.

About his character, Kim Seon-ho said, "I thought it would be so fun to play a multifaceted character. Du-sik does a lot of things. So I took lessons on how to surf, and to brew coffee. As I was studying for the character, I learned different skills."

"But despite his talents, he actually doesn't even have anything that he could call his profession. So I wanted my character to be well-blended with the neighbors," he added.

Shin Min-a said that when she “read the script, it was well-composed and the story of people in it was really interesting. And the biggest reason I chose this is because I was drawn to the character Hye-jin. I've been doing works across genres to show different acting abilities. Now, I want to do a softhearted, feel-good series, so I've decided to join the series."
