2 Pangasinan towns placed under MECQ

POZORRUBIO, Pangasinan – The provincial Inter-Agency Task (IATF) of Pangasinan has placed the towns of Pozorrubio and Sison under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), following the request of their mayors.

The MECQ implementation is until Sept. 9, in a bid to address the surging cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In an interview over Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan on Friday, Governor Amado Espino III said mayors from different local government units in the province have asked the provincial IATF to place their town under stricter community quarantine classifications.

“Binibigyan natin ng kahalagahan at respeto ang local chief executives ng bayan kung ano ang assessment nila sa kanilang lugar because we are balancing the health, the economy and the welfare of our kababayans,” he said.

Espino said some LGUs wished for higher quarantine classification while others asked for granular lockdowns.

Based on the daily monitoring bulletin of the Provincial Health Office, Pangasinan including Dagupan, an independent component city listed 592 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 18,526.

As of 6 p.m of Aug. 26, Pozorrubio and Sison logged 102 and 44 active cases, respectively.

“Ang hinihiling ko lang sa mga kababayan natin na mag-ingat at sumunod sa protocols upang mapababa ang kaso natin,” Espino said.
