Pasay City police rescued two Chinese job applicants who were kidnapped after meeting their supposed employer in Las Pinas City, Wednesday night.
Col. Cesar Paday-os, city police chief, identified the victims as Yong Qing Song, 38, and Miao Miao Chi, 38, both billeted at Santillan Condominium in Pio del Pilar, Makati City.
Three suspects -- Zhu Beibei, 26; Niu Yong Xing, 32, both POGO workers residing in Barangay 13, Pasay City; and Rolando Olvido, 33, of Barngay Pingbuhatan, Pasig City -- were arrested during the police operation.
Paday-os said the suspects are now detained at the Pasay City Police custodial facility. A kidnap-for-ransom case was filed against them.
The city police chief said Song and Chi applied for a job online. However, they were kidnapped at gunpoint by the employer whom they met in Las Pinas City.
Paday-os said the suspects detained the victims for three days in a bungalow-type house in Las Pinas City and took their cash amounting to 1,500RMB (around P11,573).
He said the suspects demanded more money but since they had no more cash to give, the victims were turned over to another group of Chinese nationals on William St. in Pasay City where the police rescued them and arrested three of their kidnappers.
It was learned that the families of the two victims asked their friend, Norman Reyes, to deliver P40,000 cash to the suspects in exchange for the freedom of Song and Chi.
Reyes, however, sought police assistance which led to the rescue of the two victims and arrest of three of the kidnappers.
