2 inmates killed in Marikina City Jail escape try


Two inmates of the Marikina City Jail died after they allegedly figured in a shootout with jail guards following an attempt to escape from the jail facility.

Maj. Xavier Solda, spokesman of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), confirmed the death of the two Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) on Thursday, Aug. 26.

He said it started when the two inmates were able to grab a gun from one of the jail guards. The incident resulted in a hostage-taking incident.

But the two inmates were later killed when a shootout occurred.
