A total of 51 families from two communities in Antipolo City affected by the granular lockdown that has been in effect since weekend are being provided with food packs and other assistance by the city government.

The office of Mayor Andrea Ynares said the local government continues to provide food assistance to 32 family members in Barangay San Isidro and 19 family members at Buliran Road in Sitio Bayugo in Barangay San Luis.
The lockdown was implemented in Sitio Bayugo after health authorities recorded three cases of COVID-19 on August 20 or a week after the death of a 68-year-old male.
The city government said although the cause of death of the 68-year-old man was stroke, the individual reportedly complained of difficulty in breathing, prompting authorities to subject his relatives and all possible close contacts to testing.
Contact tracing continues in the affected communities including those who attended the wake of the deceased who was a relative of a city hall employee. The city hall employee is now under quarantine.
The city government is encouraging residents to report their COVID-19 related concerns to the following hotlines: 869770362/ 0915-13359277/ 0927-782-4262/ 09230816037/ 09165344707
As of August 23, the city recorded 501 active cases including 97 new COVID-19 cases, bringing to 12,394 the total number of confirmed cases in the city.
