“As the Red Cross continues to be the active ally of the government as we battle COVID-19, we need to be agile and nimble,” PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard Gordon said Wednesday, Aug. 25.

PRC has already vaccinated a total of 11,003 individuals through the “Bakuna buses deployed in Luzon and Visayas” as of Aug. 24.

The seven PRC “Bakuna” buses deployed on Aug. 24 catered to 2,186 clients in the following areas: UP Manila, Brgy 186 North Caloocan, Bauan Technical Highschool, Batangas, Poblacion Sta. Cruz, Laguna, SM Molino, Bacoor, the University of Perpetual Help, GMA in Cavite, and Brgy Gun-ob in Lapu-Lapu, Cebu.

PRC Health Services Manager Mark Abrigo explained that the PRC's COVID-19 “Bakuna Buses” are provided by UBE Express and Victory Liner.

The PRC Batangas Chapter also has a new mobile health truck which was donated by the Rotary Club of Metro Batangas and Rotary International.

On Aug. 25, PRC said that it aims to vaccinate 2,600 individuals from the COVID-19 priority groups with Sinovac through its “Bakuna” buses.

The PRC Bakuna Buses are currently in the following places: Navotas Fishport in NCR, Sta. Cruz, Laguna, Lipa, and Sto Tomas in Batangas, and Imus, and General Trias, Cavite.

“Move vaccines to more regions, deploy additional people, and most importantly, vaccinate all COVID-19 priority groups” Gordon said.

Outside of the government-provided vaccine, the PRC shoulders all other costs under the COVID-19 Vaccination Program of the government, including but not limited to, syringes, mobilization, and vaccinator allowances.

Interested individuals may register for vaccination by calling 1158.

In line with its mandate “Always First, Always Ready and Always There,” PRC said that it will continue to play an integral role in the ongoing national COVID-19 vaccination initiative.
