Nancy Binay goes into quarantine after mom tests positive for COVID-19

Senator Nancy Binay on Wednesday said she is currently under quarantine after her mother, Dr. Elenita Binay, tested positive for COVID-19.

The former Makati City mayor, Binay said, is currently experiencing mild symptoms. Her father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay tested negative of the coronavirus.

“However, we will still follow recommended protocols and re-swabbing procedures. Although my mom is experiencing mild symptoms, my family and I are asking for your continued prayers for her full recovery--and as always, prayer is our first line of defense,” Binay said in a statement.

The senator reiterated her call for the public to take the necessary precautions to prevent getting infected by COVID-19.

“The exposure to the virus is real--and there's a high chance that someone out there is a silent carrier,” she said.

“Isang seryosong bagay po ang Covid, kung kaya ibayong pag-iingat. At kung may access kayo sa bakuna, huwag n'yo na pong sayangin ang pagkakataon. Magpabakuna, now na! (COVID is serious, that’s why we need to be careful. If we have access to vaccines, let’s not waste the opportunity. Get vaccinated now),” Binay appealed.
