Miss U PH Cagayan bet contracts COVID-19

CAGAYAN – Miss Universe Philippines 2021 candidate Gianne Kryssee Tecson Asuncion of Cagayan Province has tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In her Facebook page, Asuncion posted photos of her in a hospital where she is being treated for pneumonia related to COVID-19.

Cagayanos also took to social media, assuring her of their prayers for her immediate recovery and continuous support.

“Siya ang pambato namin at umaaasa kami sa kaniyang magadang performance,” resident here said.

“Pasok sa Top 50 Miss Universe Philippines 2021 screening si Gianne Asuncion, ang pambato ng Probinsiya ng Cagayan. Patuloy nating suportahan ang ating kandidata upang makapasok siya sa pinakahuling screening para sa TOP 30 na maglalaban sa coronation night ng Miss Universe Philippines 2021,” one BM Aj Ponce posted in his FB page.

"I went silent for days. With the discovery of being COVID positive with pneumonia, I didn't know how to react. I didn't know what's the next that could happen," Asuncion said.

Despite the challenges she was facing, Asuncion hoped that she would recover from the virus to continue her journey in this year’s Miss Universe Philippines pageant.

"But you see, this fear of the unknown can't stop me. It might be hard, but all I know is I will heal. I will get better. The fight will continue," said Asuncion.

Asuncion, 22, a native of Lingu, Solana, Cagayan, is hoping to take home the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 crown.
