Lapid tests positive for COVID-19, now recuperating in hospital

Senator Manuel ‘’Lito’’ Lapid is COVID-19 positive in his RP-PCT test

This was revealed today, Monday August 23, by lawyer Jericho U. Acedera, chief of staff of Lapid in a Viber post to Senate reporters.

‘’We wish to confirm that unfortunately, Pinuno (Lapid) tested positive in his Covid 19 RT-PCR test,’’ he said.

Acedera said Lapi is currently undergoing treatment at the Medical City Clark where his doctors consider his case as ‘’mild to moderate.’’

He said all of those who have came in close contact with Lapid already took the necessary tests and have been instructed to comply with the existing Covid-19 protocols.

As this happened when the Senate is not holding sessions, no member of Lapid’s staff have been considerably exposed except for his personal and close-in employees who have tested negative in their antigen tests and currently exhibit no symptoms, he pointed out.

‘’We shall be reporting progress of his recovery when needed and as we get the news from his doctors,’’ Acedera said.

‘’We enjoin everyone to pray that his health and of all those infected continue to improve, and more importantly, for this pandemic to soon be over,’’ he added.
