Muntinlupa’s first dose vaccination now at 71%


The Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program (MunCoVac)’s first dose vaccination has reached 71 percent of the target population.

As of Aug. 18, MunCoVac reported that 275,046 individuals have received the first dose (71.3 percent) of the target population of 385,725. The total includes 7,160 individuals who were vaccinated in sites at private companies in the city.

In addition, 151,743 individuals are now fully vaccinated (39.3 percent) of the target population. The total includes 4,359 individuals who received the single shot Janssen vaccine.

MunCoVac said 422,430 vaccines have been administered in total in Muntinlupa.

The Muntinlupa City government is ramping up its vaccination program by launching new methods to reach out to more people.

The Muntinlupa City Department of Disaster Resilience and Management (DDRM) converted its Mobile Learning Hub bus into a vaccination bus, which can visit different communities to vaccinate residents.

In a report by MunCoVac as of Aug. 18, of the 2,028 active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Muntinlupa, 1,471 (72.54 percent) are unvaccinated individuals including minors who are ineligible for vaccination, while 341 (16.81 percent) are fully vaccinated and 216 (10.65 percent) are partially vaccinated.

Partially and fully vaccinated individuals are asymptomatic or only have mild symptoms.

As of Aug. 20, Muntinlupa’s active COVID-19 cases rose to 2,270 out of 17,617 confirmed cases, 14,993 recoveries and 414 deaths.

“Vaccination is one of the most effective ways against COVID-19. Even if vaccinated individuals get the virus, they are more protected compared to the unvaccinated,” said MunCoVac.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi encouraged residents to get their COVID-19 vaccine, saying vaccination is an urgent measure to fight COVID-19 and prevent further severe and death cases among residents.

LOCKDOWN

Amid the surge of COVID-19 cases, Muntinlupa has placed Building 17 at Filinvest Socialized Housing in Alabang and five streets in Katarungan Village 1 in Poblacion under a 14-day lockdown from Aug. 19 to Sept. 2.

A vaccination site has been established at JRF Covered Court Phase 2, Katarungan Village 1 to accommodate the residents of the subdivision from Aug. 20-21 due to the alarming rise of COVID-19 cases in the area.

Other areas under lockdown in Muntinlupa are Purok 3, Molera Compound in Barangay Sucat and Purok 7, Beatriz Compound, De Mesa L & B Street in Barangay Alabang from Aug. 6 to 27; Block 8, Hills View and Mangga St., Lakeview Homes in Barangay Putatan from Aug. 12 to 26; and Chico St., Laguerta in Barangay Tunasan under ELCQ from Aug. 10 to Aug. 25.
