Presidential legal counsel Panelo in Iloilo

ILOILO CITY — Secretary Salvador “Sal” Panelo, the chief presidential legal counsel of President Duterte, visited Iloilo Friday.

The official Facebook page of Mayor Vicente “Junjun” Jaen II of Leganes town posted several photos showing Panelo.

“Mayor Junjun Jaen and the Municipality of Leganes welcome Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador ‘Sal’ Panelo and staff,” the Facebook post said.

It is unclear what was the agenda of Panelo in Leganes as no other details were mentioned in the August 20 Facebook post.

But there was a group photo showing Panelo and more than a dozen people with a tarpaulin that says “Panalo Tayo."

Panelo has yet to officially announce his candidacy for senator in the upcoming elections.

But late last month, Duterte said in a taped Cabinet briefing that Panelo is his “favorite candidate for senator.”

It is unclear where else Panelo went Friday as both the city and province of Iloilo are still under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) status.
