IMUS, Cavite - The local government unit here identified on Thursday (August 19) six barangays considered to be coronavirus disease (COVID-19) hotspots amid the surge in active cases.
As of August 18, Barangay Buhay na Tubig has recorded 139 active COVID-19 cases, the highest in the city.

Also included in the hotspot list are Barangays Carsadang Bago 2, Malagasang 1-G, Pasong Buaya 2, Carsadang Bago 1, and Alapan 1-A, which recorded COVID-19 cases ranging from 40 to 67.
In a Facebook post, Mayor Emmanuel L. Maliksi said the city government is already conducting contract tracing and testing in the identified hotspots.
On August 15, Maliksi reminded his constituents to follow the minimum health protocols as St. Dymphna, the city's 584-bed mega isolation facility, is nearing its full capacity.
Maliksi himself tested positive for COVID-19 on August 16 and was admitted at South Imus Specialist Hospital.
The mayor said he's experiencing mild symptoms and that the local government unit will operate as usual despite his isolation.
