BACOLOD CITY – Three persons were arrested after police seized from them a loose firearm and illegal drugs, when they were caught allegedly stealing a cow in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental on Thursday, August 19.
Police identified the suspects as Bacolod residents - Jerry Genelaso 40, of Barangay 15; Clyde Ersida, 33, of Barangay Taculing; and Rollie Francisco, 23, of Libertad Extension.
Reacting to reports on stolen animals in the town, Police Capt. Eugene Tolentino, Don Salvador Benedicto town police chief, conducted mobile patrol and while they were approaching Barangay Bunga, they noticed a van parked at the roadside around 4 a.m.
When the police approached them, the three suspects were reportedly seen pushing the cow inside the van.
The suspects failed to present documents or proof that they own the cow.
Afterwhich, police searched them and recovered from Ersida two sachets of suspected shabu, while police also confiscated from Genelaso a homemade .38 caliber pistol.
Police are investigating if these three individuals were the same persons who were also allegedly involved in stealing other animals in the area.
