70% of target population in NCR gets first dose of COVID-19 vaccine


Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said Metro Manila has already administered first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to 70 percent of its target 10 million eligible adults.

“Doon po sa vaccination napakaganda po sa buong National Capital Region. Pumapalo na po tayo sa kabuuan, ‘yung atin pong first dose vaccination umabot na po ng mahigit 70 percent (The vaccination rate in the National Capital Region is really good. Our first dose vaccination has reached over 70 percent)," Olivarez, also Metro Manila Council chairman, told ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo.

He also said 50 percent of the target population in the region are now fully vaccinated.

Currently, the local government units in the region are administering the four million COVID-19 vaccines provided by the national government, according to Olivarez.

Earlier, National Task Force against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer Vince Dizon reported that around 3.2 million vaccine doses were administered during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20.
