Former Health Secretary and now Iloilo Representative Janette Garin has tested positive for COVID-19.
Garin, in a statement, said she is currently on home quarantine as advised by her doctors.
“Despite following the minimum health protocols and being extra cautious, I tested positive for COVID-19,” Garin said.
“It is fortunate that I am fully vaccinated. I can sleep soundly with the hope that this will not be severe despite my pre-existing conditions: asthma, hypertension and Raynaud's disease,” she said.
As of the moment, she said her COVID-19 symptoms are mild and she is having colds, cough, fever and chills.
“Hindi naman apektado ang aking pang-amoy at panlasa. Ngunit under strict monitoring pa rin dahil ako ay (My sense of smell and taste are not affected. But I am still under strict monitoring because I am) tachycardic,” she said.
Tachycardic is a medical condition for a faster heart rate of over 100 beats per minute.
The lawmaker also said she has advised all individuals whom she had had close contact since Monday to quarantine and watch out for symptoms.
