TACLOBAN CITY – A person deprived of liberty in the Northern Samar Provincial Jail (NSPJ) was caught in possession of a suspected shabu from a package sent to him through a courier.
Authorities seized eight sachets of alleged shabu from 35-year-old Joker Chan Dapulag during an 'Oplan Galugad' on August 16 in the said facility.
They were able to recover three plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be “shabu” under the biscuit container placed on the bed of Dapulag.
The operation was conducted after suspected shabu was recovered in a courier package coming from a certain Jonabelle Habal, resident of Port Area Manila.
During the extensive search of the package, the team found five transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu wrapped on a writing pad and placed inside a Bluetooth speaker enclosed in an LBC box.
The seized items were brought to the Northern Samar Police Provincial Office Crime Laboratory for further examination.
Newly-installed Police Regional Director Rommel Cabagnot lauded the accomplishment of the Northern Samar cops.
“Ang pagsasagawa ng Oplan Galugad ay isa lamang sa mga paraan para maiwasan ang pagkakaroon ng mga pinagbabawal o kontrabando sa ating mga piitan at kulungan. At sa kabila ng hamon ng COVID-19, tayo ay patuloy na magmomonitor sa mga ito,” RD Cabagnot said.
