Ninoy Aquino Day marked by a tribute song

Benigno Simeon 'NInoy' Aquino Jr. (Manila Bulletin)

The internationally acclaimed Philippine Madrigal Singers (Madz), with Mark Anthony Carpio as choirmaster, will commemorate Ninoy Aquino Day, on August 21 with a tribute song for our nation’s hero titled “Pangarap ng Bayan,” in a music video specially created for the occasion, and to be posted online for posterity on the 38th death anniversary of Ninoy Aquino.

The song’s lyrics are by poet/writer Gil Yuzon and the music by composer/arranger Noel Espenida.

The production is sponsored by the advocacy group, Kilusang Pamana (Legacy Movement), whose stated objective is to pay tribute to and keep alive the patriotic and civic legacies of outstanding Filipinos, past and present, which remain relevant and needed for our times. This first undertaking honors the respective legacies of Ninoy Aquino, his wife Cory and their son P-Noy — who have significantly impacted the lives of Filipinos of this generation.

The tribute video is produced by Aurora Oreta and Gil Yuzon, with the team of Jeremy Carlos, director; Richwell Espenida, mixing and mastering and Celine Perpiñan, project coordinator. Victoria Benoit is the communications consultant.

The stirring music video may be accessed two days before August 21 by typing: “Pangarap ng Bayan song by Gil Yuzon/Noel Espenida” on YouTube or by simply searching tinyurl.com/KilusangPamana on the web. It can also be viewed on Facebook and Instagram thereafter by typing the hashtag #NinoyAko on the search bar.
